KlotzShows

The gallery

KlotzShows is a contemporary art gallery directed by the German art collector Robert Klotz. Since September 2021, KlotzShows has presented five to six exhibitions per year in its space within the Rivoli Building in Brussels. The gallery offers an attractive platform for contemporary artists, often shown for the first time in Brussels. The exhibited artists work with a wide variety of media: painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, photography, and video, among others. The gallery’s program is primarily focused on geometric abstraction and minimal, concrete, or kinetic art, while also exploring conceptual art, graphic design, applied arts, and multimedia. From time to time, more historical positions are presented, such as multiples by Joseph Beuys, Otl Aicher, or Paul Wunderlich. Since its creation, KlotzShows has gained strong visibility with the public through repeated coverage in the Belgian and international press (MAD Le Soir, Le Figaro, Les Echos, The Guardian, El Pais) and its participation in art fairs (ST-ART Strasbourg 2024, PhotoBrussels 2025 and 2026, LEAF Brussels 2025, Art Antwerp 2025 and 2026).

The project

The booth brings together three major German artists. With his visual arts and politically engaged performances, Joseph Beuys (1921–1986) advocated for direct democracy, ecology, equal opportunity, etc., well ahead of his time. All of his exhibited multiples are signed and listed in detail in the Schellmann catalogue raisonné. His student Imi Knoebel (1940–) is famous for his minimal and conceptual paintings and sculptures, rich in color. The works on display are small editions of abstract paintings, with each piece in fact unique. Paul Wunderlich (1927–2010), via Paris in the 1960s, created a singular body of work of lithographs, paintings, and sculptures. He is one of the leading artists of Magic Realism, his works tinged with Art Nouveau and Art Deco. The lithographs on display come directly from his personal archives in Hamburg. They are signed, often rare artist’s proofs, and all are listed in detail in the Riediger catalogue raisonné.
