KO's Eye

Karl Fournier's Picks

As an ambassador for Signatures Art Fair, Karl Fournier—architect and co-founder of Studio KO—shares his favorites through *L’Œil de KO*, a personal selection of works on display at the fair.

Reflecting the eclectic mix of styles that characterizes Studio KO’s approach, this selection brings together works by Lynn Chadwick, Marc Couturier, Nina Childress, Richard Texier, Tatenda Chidora, and Xie Lei. From sculpture to drawing, including prints and artist’s books, “L’Œil de KO” invites visitors to discover the richness of the artistic practices showcased by Signatures Art Fair.

Studio KO

Architects Karl Fournier and Olivier Marty, the founders of Studio KO, have been developing projects for more than twenty-five years in Europe, Morocco, the far reaches of Africa, and the Americas. The creative duo brings a distinctive approach to their work, where an eclectic mix of styles is combined with a consistently unique vision, grounded in the art of storytelling—a narrative in which space, light, and materials form the essential building blocks.

Public spaces, private residences, contemporary homes nestled in natural settings: each project serves as an opportunity to reveal a place’s distinct character and the unique way it will be experienced or lived in. For Studio KO, context is the foundation: archaeology, environment, and topography become the elements of a creative equation. Blending the spirit of a place, narrative structure, traditional craftsmanship, and bespoke poetry, Studio KO plays with materials as it does with words. By rediscovering echoes of the past—only to reinterpret or break free from them—the studio affirms a sensitive and contemporary vision of modernity.
