Drawing Lab & Friends
On the occasion of Signatures Art Fair, "Drawing Lab & Friends" presents a selection of artist editions that reflects a long-standing commitment to contemporary drawing and its many forms.
Since its creation in 2017 by Christine Phal, Drawing Lab has been a space for production, experimentation, and exhibitions entirely dedicated to contemporary drawing. A private non-profit art center, it supports artists in projects that invite drawing to move beyond the page and into space, moving image, volume, installation, and performance. Each project is conceived as a true collaboration between the artists and the Drawing Lab team.
The project
This focus on production naturally extends to publishing. The "Drawing Lab & Friends" booth thus brings together two families of works.
The first brings together editions produced directly by Drawing Lab. Designed from projects developed within the art center, these limited-edition works, signed and numbered, extend an exhibition in a new form. Producing an edition is also an integral part of the support framework offered to the artists supported by Drawing Lab.
The second brings together editions by artists connected to the Drawing Society ecosystem: Drawing Now Paris award-winning artists, as well as artists invited to contribute within the Drawing Hotels Collection establishments. A selection that reflects the diversity of contemporary drawing practices and the ties forged over nearly twenty years between the artists and Drawing Society.
Screenprints, prints, and objects thus form a deliberately open ensemble, in which drawing takes shape in different numbered and signed formats.
Through this selection, "Drawing Lab & Friends" affirms its commitment alongside artists, supporting their research and circulating contemporary drawing in its many forms.
All proceeds will be donated to the Drawing Projects & Friends association, directly contributing to supporting artists, producing new exhibitions, and developing projects that explore contemporary drawing in its most experimental forms.
