OPERA GALLERY
La galerie
Founded in Singapore in 1994, Opera Gallery has developed a network of 14 galleries worldwide, notably in London, Paris, New York, Geneva, Madrid and Dubai, and is a major player in the international art market.
Created by Gilles Dyan, Opera Gallery specialises in modern, post-war and contemporary art. With a strong presence on the secondary market, Opera Gallery also presents emerging contemporary artists such as Andy Denzler, Pieter Obels and Gustavo Nazareno, as well as internationally renowned artists such as Ron Arad, Manolo Valdés and Anselm Reyle.
For more than 30 years, Opera Gallery has made it its mission to present and make modern and contemporary art accessible through an ambitious annual exhibition programme and collaborations with leading private collections and public institutions.
Le projet
For the first edition of Signatures, Opera Gallery presents a selection dedicated to multiples, contemporary photography, sculpture and design. Bringing together the gallery’s historic artists, the hanging creates a dialogue between works by Juan Genovés, Pedro Almodóvar, Manolo Valdés, Ron Arad and Alex Katz.
Juan Genovés’ compositions, populated by anonymous figures in motion, unfold a strong graphic energy. Pedro Almodóvar’s photographic still lifes introduce an intimate, narrative dimension. With Iris II, Manolo Valdés transforms the face into a poetic motif, while Ron Arad’s Little Albert creates a link between sculpture and design. The ensemble is punctuated by White Lilies 6 and two sculptures from Alex Katz’s Black Dress series.
