The gallery
Founded in Paris in 1973 by Robert and Lydie Dutrou, art printers and publishers, the RLD studio has supported artists and authors for over fifty years in their explorations of contemporary printmaking and rare books. Driven by exceptional craftsmanship, a constant taste for experimentation, and an attentive relationship with creators, the studio has established itself as a leading authority in the field of printed arts.
In the early 1980s, the couple purchased an old farmhouse in the heart of a thirty-hectare park: La Métairie Bruyère. Transformed into a site dedicated to creativity and the book arts, this unique place now comprises eight buildings devoted to complementary practices: engraving, lithography, typography, digigraphy, artistic bookbinding, exhibition spaces, artist residencies, and workshops.
The studio also collaborates with galleries affiliated with luxury brands and design firms, for which it produces exceptional prints.
RLD is also a renowned publishing house that, in half a century, has published the works of more than a hundred major contemporary artists, including Miró, Alechinsky, Arman, Chillida, Texier, Segui, Di Rosa, and Speedy Graphito.
The project
We have brought together artists with distinctive artistic visions, showcasing the richness of original prints and our ongoing commitment to contemporary art.
A loyal collaborator with our publishing house for over forty years, Pierre Alechinsky presents “Caféine,” a new original lithograph enhanced with stencil work; powerful lines in a spectacular 1.40-meter format. Richard Texier, for his part, takes us on a journey through his engravings and artist’s books into a geographical, cosmogonic universe where cartographic lines and mineral textures delineate new territories.
For nearly twenty years, our studios have also welcomed iconic figures from the world of street art, such as Speedy Graphito, who is presenting his new lithographs inspired by art history on this occasion.
The exhibition also showcases the younger generation with sugar etchings by the duo Atelier Bingo—composed of Adèle Favreau and Maxime Prou—as well as wood engravings by Julie Safistein, created at La Métairie Bruyère. Their works stand out for the strength of their graphic design and the intensity of their colors.
