Abraham & Wolff

The gallery

Opened in 2022, Abraham & Wolff has developed a discerning and thought-provoking program, with themes drawn from the respective histories of the Jocelyn Wolff and Samy Abraham Galleries.

Its drawing collection is regularly expanded with contemporary drawings by artists such as Miriam Cahn, Franz Erhard Walther, Amorelle Jacox, Franziska Krumbachner, Bruno Botella, William Anastasi, and Colette Brunschwig. Advocating a cross-disciplinary approach to the graphic arts, the gallery presents a collection of historical drawings spanning the 16th through the early 20th centuries, within which the work of Eugène Carrière holds a special place.

Editions and multiples are also a major focus of this exhibition. The gallery features prints from the Imre Pán collection, as well as editions by William Anastasi, Aurelie Nemours, and Francisco Tropa. Here, the multiple is viewed as a medium in its own right, extending the artist’s practice and opening up new avenues for disseminating the work.

Echoing this collection, which can be viewed on site, five to six annual exhibitions showcase emerging contemporary artists and foster encounters between artists, eras, and disciplines.

The project

Between 1960 and 1972, Imre Pán—a poet, critic, publisher, bookseller, and exhibition curator of Hungarian origin—was intensely active in the publishing world in Paris. Guided by a highly independent spirit, he published nearly 150 art editions featuring multiples by artists from across the visual arts spectrum: geometric, optical, or informal abstractions; post-surrealist figurative works; narrative pieces; and works in the vein of the Nouveaux Réalistes.

We are pleased to present a unique collection of engravings, lithographs, etchings, and silkscreen prints created as part of this extraordinary publishing venture. The collection notably includes works by René Bertholo, Corneille, Camille Bryen, André Heurtaux, Roberto Matta, Aurélie Nemours, and Victor Vasarely.

Also on display will be issues of the exceptional magazine KWY, published in Paris between 1958 and 1964, featuring signed works by Robert Filliou, Lourdes Castro, Martial Raysse, Jean Tinguely, and Niki de Saint Phalle.
