La galerie
AIVAZIAN Editions is an independent French publishing house specializing in international artist's books, illustrated poetry, and research publications in limited editions. Founded by artist, poet, and publisher Guévork Aivazian, it conceives each publication as an original creative space where the book becomes an artistic medium in its own right.
On the occasion of Signatures Art Fair, AIVAZIAN Editions partners with the MENK Project to forge connections between the French and Armenian art scenes. Created in 2022 by painter Guillaume Toumanian with the support of the French Institute, this project ("MENK" meaning "we" in Armenian) establishes itself as a platform for cultural exchange promoting artist mobility and the circulation of expertise through cross-residencies.
Le projet
AIVAZIAN Editions presents, in partnership with the MENK Project, the bilingual contemporary Armenian poetry book This Morning, That Night (Ce matin, Cette nuit-Là). The book brings together 14 original engravings created by 14 French and Armenian artists representative of both art scenes: Axel Pahlavi, Florence Obrecht, Vahan Soghomonian, Pierre Aghaikian, Arman Vahanyan, Harout, Anush Ghukasyan, Aleksandr Avagyan, Guévørk Aivazian, Guillaume Toumanian, Taline Zabounian, Ani Qananyan, Maïda Chavak, and Tigran Sahakyan.
Printed in limited edition on the presses of Sahakyan Studio in Yerevan, these recent works are the fruit of traditional techniques shaped through residencies between France and Armenia, notably at the IDEM art print studio in Paris. The booth particularly highlights the creations of Armenian engravers and printers Arman Vahanyan and Tigran Sahakyan, invited in residence at IDEM Paris in 2024 with the support of Les Amis d'Idem.
