Galerie Wagner

La galerie

Founded in 2004 in Le Touquet-Paris-Plage and based in Paris since 2019, Galerie Wagner champions Constructivist, Concrete and Kinetic art, as well as projects linked to architecture and the sciences. It develops a programme based on a dialogue between conceptual rigour and formal research, supporting artists whose works question contemporary conditions of viewing and aesthetic experience. Each year, around 7 to 8 solo or group exhibitions are organised within the gallery and off-site, or at art fairs. In addition, Galerie Wagner collaborates with museums, universities, public administrations, publishing houses and companies. It advises and supports the building of collections, as well as the artistic fit-out of premises for companies and public institutions.

Le projet

In keeping with its artistic line, Galerie Wagner offers a face-to-face encounter between two major figures of Kinetic art: Carlos CRUZ-DIEZ and Jesús Rafael SOTO. Both were born in 1923 in Venezuela. Both questioned contemporary conditions of viewing and aesthetic experience. Cruz-Diez made colour an autonomous phenomenon in constant transformation. Soto explores the vibration of space through line structures that create an illusion of movement. One frees colour from its support and from permanence. The other dissolves form in perceived movement. Both sought to democratise art through the constant production of editions. The gallery thus presents a selection of works on paper, Plexiglas, glass and ceramic.
